A downloadable game for Android

[This game is for Meta Quest 3/3S only!]

Five Minute Fortress is a chaotic, physics-based mixed-reality tower-defense game where epic battles between absurd miniature factions unfold on your real furniture.

Using only your hands, build wobbling fortresses, slingshot units into battle, flick away invaders, and puppet massive bosses in bite-sized five-minute challenges you can jump into anytime.

[Full touch controller controls are added for accessibility]

Game Jam: I made this game in about a month for the Meta Horizon Start Developer Competition 2025. You can read more about my experience and inspiration making the game on the contest entry page here: https://devpost.com/software/five-minute-kingdoms

Much testing needed: I haven't had the chance to test it out in any other rooms other than my very sparse concrete large living/kitchen room yet, so it might be a lot tougher or easier in smaller rooms, or more interesting in rooms with more furniture. I'd appreciate any reports/videos on how it worked in your rooms.

Also, the challenges/units/walls will definitely need some balancing. Most challenges are probably too easy, but this was made as a "casual gaming" kind of tower-defense / real-time-strategy. Place your keep in the center of the floor in your room for more challenge.

Controls & Instructions:
For each challenge, defend the keep at all costs until the ritual is complete.

Known issues:

  1. Epic crashes (fixed in Post-Jam build v0.1.1): Sometimes during the most epic moments, like right before or soon after the legendary Hand of Ruin shows up, the game can temporarily freeze visually (though things are still happening, but the room tracking can't figure out where you are?) or crash! The device can't handle this level of epic-ness. I'll figure it out. Play sandbox mode for a less intense experience.
  2. Unreasonable bounds: The game doesn't really place reasonable bounds on how many units/walls you can place. For the sandbox mode, where you have unlimited time/resources, for vast fortresses, you'll run up into performance limits for the Meta Quest 3, and the framerate or room-tracking will deteriorate. If you've reached that point, then congratulations, you've beat the game!?
  3. Scanned furniture/room offset: If all the walls and furniture outlines are in-sync with each other but are not aligned with your actual room, and you want to try to get it closer, then quit and restart the game. Also, when you take off the headset, step outside the guardian boundary, or lose tracking, the game will think you're in a different position than you are. Or if you put the headset on after starting the game, it will be off.

The FiveMinuteKingdoms_v0.1.0.apk version crashes every time in less than 1 minute from starting the tutorial battle on my Quest 3.

Thanks for reporting! A new build that fixes the crashes is coming out very shortly, likely later today.

Try the sandbox for slightly more stable play for now. You can open the in-game menu (left pinch with palm facing you, or left menu button on controller) and press the controls button to show the full controls that you missed out on in the crashy unfortunate tutorial.

Build v0.1.1 is out. It fixes the crashes. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for playing.
